The Dreaming describes the journey of a group of women of all ages who traveled east gathering food, collecting Ngalyipi (Snake Vine) and performing ceremonies along the journey. Judy Napangardi Watson paints the sinuous shapes representing the Snake Vine, whose fibrous strands are used to weave ceremonial skirts for the dancers. The linear designs in this painting represents hand crafted hair-string belts or skirts, worn by the Pintupi Aboriginal Women during ceremonies.
